这部公路旅行冒险片《动物朋友》由艾美奖获奖导演彼得·阿特西奥（《新阴阳魔界》《基努猫》）执导，凯文·巴罗斯、马特·米德（《我的宝贝在哪里》）编剧，详细剧情尚未曝光。日前，该片被华纳兄弟收购。索尼之前定于明年8月发行这部电影，但华纳兄弟出于不明原因接管了发行任务。在目前的上映日期，《动物朋友》将与迪士尼的《创：战神》同时上映。
