电影改编自著名系列游戏《真人快打》，由第一部导演西蒙·麦奎德接续执导，杰瑞米·斯莱特（剧集《月光骑士》）执笔剧本。接续前作剧情，影片或将在好莱坞开启全新血战，而人气角色乔尼·凯奇也首曝阵容，成为第二部的重要角色。
